Sr. Systems Administrator

Job Description

The Sr. Systems Administrator will be responsible for maintaining on-premise and cloud servers that provide IT services for our San Francisco Bay area customers. Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Experience with Virtualization and Cloud Computing : VMware, AWS
  • Installing and configuring operating system, software, storage and networking equipment
  • Maintaining large physical, virtual and cloud based Linux/Windows systems
  • Providing, documenting and implementing monitoring processes/tools and using automated system software tools/procedures to monitor, manage, and report on server performance
  • Contributing to planning efforts for new launches, disaster recovery, capacity expansion, component upgrading, and system hardening
  • Producing and maintaining documentation on installations, incidents, and FAQs
  • Being a key member of our 24/7 on-call rotation
  • Experience with internet delivery systems such as Rich Content, High Traffic, Live Content etc
  • Experience working with multiple clients
  • Communication and project management skills

Skills

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, and at least 7 years of experience in information technology, Sr. Systems Administrator candidates will meet the following qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of experience maintaining mid- (100+) to large- (1000+) scale heterogeneous server farms. Database administration experience: MySQL
  • System monitoring tool experience: Nagios, Munin, Cacti and Gomez
  • Routing on the internet: including protocols like BGP, peering amongst ISP's, experience with one or more bandwidth providers. Exposure to CDN's, Colo/MSP
  • Experience with Load Balancers and/or switches/routers (preferably Juniper/ Cisco)
  • Knowledge of php scripting and other interpreted languages
  • Advanced knowledge of standard Internet services (DNS, SNMP, SMTP, SSL, etc)
